Introduction

“The unseen familiar” is a journey. I loaded my bicycle with a view camera and a tripod, opened my eyes and let them observe through my mind the routine journey to work. Every day for a period of three weeks, I cycled the same twenty miles early in the morning and twenty miles back in the afternoon, discovering the unknown familiar. Every day I learned something new and gradually a completely different perception of my nearest surrounding area was born. Soon I realized that all the big issues I was interested in could  be found, directly or symbolically, along my twenty mile ride - history, nature of some sort, pollution, food production, waste, people’s attempts to conquer nature, the responsibility of each individual for the world around.

The Unseen Familiar   (Outer London, 2009)

The picture of our little front garden with growing fruit and vegetables could serve as a pre-suggestion of the way for change.
The Unseen Familiar is also a personal message, a statement and a challenge to all those too serious about the latest economic collapse, all too predictable for a careful observer. I am telling them not to worry about the interest rates, but become the change they wish to happen.
