Prologue

A careful observer once stated, “Some people see more in a walk around the block than others see in a trip around the world.
The Unseen Familiar is an everyday picture of the ordinary that for most of us has dissolved into itself.  Because the familiar is always here, we take it for granted, stop seeing it and being interested in it. The well known and obvious becomes blurred, unseen and forgotten. We dream about an escape from the uninspiring and boring familiar. We are all watchers, yet not observers.
How many of us, for instance, would be able to describe, in some detail, our way to work?
